Biography Prof. Fernando Correia
Fernando Correia has a degree in Biology and a Master in Animal Ecology, both from the University of Coimbra. He works as a scientific illustrator since 1988 and also teaches Scientific Illustration in several Universities.
He held the positions of President of the General Council and President of the Board of Directors of the Mata do Buçaco Foundation in 2014. He is currently Director of the Scientific Illustration Laboratory, having been coordinator of the “Scientific Illustration Training Course” (from 2011 to 2022), both at the Department of Biology, University of Aveiro, where he teaches as Guest Assistant Professor.
He is the author of 9 books and co-author of 10, having also contributed several full chapters to another 4 books. He has written or co-written 37 articles for specialized publications and 77 articles for scientific journals and periodicals.
As far as educational scientific illustration is concerned, he is primarily responsible for the full illustration of a total of 7 textbooks to date. He also illustrated 18 stamps for CTT Correios de Portugal and a total of 16 more stamps for the United Nations Post Administration.
